Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo update

After feeling so dizzy yesterday, I really expected to have the vertigo again during the night...but I didn't! Yay! I am so happy to be feeling better! PTL and thank you for praying! I was so thankful to have had a good night's sleep because I had planned to have my usual Coffeetime Fellowship this morning. I almost canceled it, but went ahead by faith...this morning four different ladies came and we had such a good time visiting. I made a new recipe of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and we enjoyed them with our coffee. Miguel even stole some to take back to the office for the guys...

My sister Liz called this morning with some more information about the vertigo...she was able to talk to a friend who knows what I'm talking about and he confirmed what I'd read. There are calcium crystal deposits in the inner ear that get dislodged sometimes and he said that if it happens again, to lay down on my back and bang my head on the floor to get them back into place...gently, I would assume? :) The whole thing sounds very crazy and even though it's not really that funny, I've had some really good laughs over it. If the vertigo does return, I'll try the head-banging thing and let you know how it works!

So, when our toddlers pitched fits and banged their heads on the floor, this was a good thing? =)

Ok - this orange is making me dizzy! What happened to "I'm going to stay with this"?

Are you sure it isn't benign paroxysmal positional vertigo?! Technically, I did "leave it like this" in that I didn't change the basic style...just the colors! Orange and red reflect my personality...although they are rather stong colors, eh? I didn't know I could change the colors and font style, so I had fun playing around with that one day and this is what I came up with. :) Sorry it's making you dizzy...have you tried banging your head on the floor? haha!

I suffer from positional vertigo and sometimes I think it is because when I start drinking too much coffee I stop drinking as much water. I associate the vertigo onsets with my coffee intake. Do you have any experience of this or know anything about the affects of coffee on vertigo?

@Elizabeth-I just did a little research and found that there is actually something called Meniere's disease that can also cause positional vertigo. Many times BPPV can be mistaken for Meniere's and vice versa. Meniere's can be controlled by reducing salt and sugar intake, as well as avoiding coffee, alcohol, chocolate. Diuretics can also be taken to reduce fluid levels in the body since that can affect the vertigo as well. Of course, there was a lot more info. on that, but that's the gyst of it.

Personally, I drink quite a bit of coffee every day and I haven't connected the vertigo to the coffee-I don't suffer from vertigo on a daily basis. But I have noticed that dehydration will cause vertigo, that has happened to me before, so I try to keep up the fluid intake via water or fruits. Fruit provides a good amount of fluid and is a good alternative to drinking water.

Hope that answers your question or at least gives you something to investigate!
