Declaring His Glory

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Ps. 19:1
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
Psalm 8:3-4

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

Ps. 57:5

The other morning I just had to run outside and snap some pictures
of the sunrise, it was absolutely breathtaking!
I was so glad that my little camera captured some of it...
obviously pictures can't do justice to it,
but they turned out pretty well!
I have recently become somewhat obsessed with
watching the sky and the landscapes around here...
the desert is beautiful (in spite of the electrical wires
and the roofs and walls of the city)!
And healing has brought me to a place of
renewed appreciation of the nature around me.
God is good.

Yeah, well... my day started off with that cold, grey, misty frozen type of day... No sky, no air, no sight - just grey coldness.

And it is Friday - the day I have committed myself to stand out in the blowing snow and supervise one recess. I had a serious talk with God on the way to school this morning which consisted basically of this, "Hey, I thought we had a deal here - I agreed to serve, and You were supposed to make it easy - like sun and the warmest weather all week on Friday!"

No answer, and I resigned myself to the fact that I can not set conditions on obedience.... Two and a half hours later, I crawled out of my tiny study room after doing math and reading with various kids, and grudgingly went to pull on my snowpants and bundle up for the chill.

But when I walked out, the sun was shining, the wind had stopped, and the kids and I sledded happily for half an hour without being cold! Yay! God is kind - even to this pouting adult!

And, the next recess, the one that I get to stay inside, it was back to blowing snow and grey skies. That sunshine was just for me! :)
